Understanding Qiyamah

The Day of Judgment (Qiyamah or Yawm al-Din) is one of the fundamental beliefs in Islam. Allah and His Messenger have informed us of various signs that will appear before this day. These signs are divided into minor signs (which have been occurring) and major signs (which are yet to come).

"They ask you about the Hour: when will it come to pass? Say: 'Knowledge of it rests with my Lord alone. None can reveal its time except He.'" - Quran 7:187

Detailed Major Signs

1. Ad-Dajjal (The Antichrist)

The greatest trial for humanity. He will claim to be a prophet, then God himself. He will have miraculous powers to deceive people, but believers will recognize him by the word "kafir" written on his forehead.

  • • One-eyed with curly hair
  • • Will rule for 40 days (1 day like a year, 1 day like a month, 1 day like a week, remaining like normal days)
  • • Cannot enter Mecca or Medina

2. Descent of Prophet Isa (Jesus)

Jesus will descend near Damascus, join the Muslim army, and kill Dajjal. He will break the cross, kill swine, and establish Islamic law on Earth.

Two tribes currently trapped behind a wall built by Dhul-Qarnayn. They will break free and cause great corruption on Earth before being destroyed by Allah.

4. The Beast (Dabbat al-Ard)

A creature will emerge from the earth and speak to people, distinguishing between believers and non-believers, marking them with signs.

How Should Muslims Prepare?

While the timing of Qiyamah is unknown to anyone except Allah, Muslims should:

  • Strengthen Faith: Increase worship, knowledge, and righteous deeds
  • Seek Protection: Make dua for protection from the trials of Dajjal
  • Memorize Quran: Especially the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf
  • Live Righteously: Follow Islamic teachings and avoid sins
  • Spread Knowledge: Share authentic Islamic knowledge with others

"So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." - Quran 99:7-8

Protection from Dajjal

The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us specific prayers for protection:

Daily Protection Duas

  • After each prayer, recite:
"Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi jahannam, wa min 'adhabi'l-qabr, wa min fitnati'l-mahya wa'l-mamat, wa min fitnati'l-masih ad-dajjal"
(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, the punishment of the grave, the trials of life and death, and the trial of the False Messiah)
  • Memorize and recite the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf - This provides protection from Dajjal
