Explore the Quran's profound teachings on patience (Sabr), perseverance through trials, and the tremendous rewards Allah promises for those who remain steadfast.
Patience (Sabr) is one of the most emphasized virtues in the Quran, mentioned over 90 times. It's not merely enduring hardship passively, but actively maintaining faith, hope, and good conduct while facing trials. Sabr is considered half of faith in Islamic teachings.
The Quran describes three types of patience: patience in worship and obedience to Allah, patience in avoiding sins and disobedience, and patience during calamities and hardships. Those who practice Sabr are promised Allah's love, guidance, and unlimited rewards.
"And give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.""
Al-Baqarah 2:155-156
"And be patient, and your patience is not but through Allah."
An-Nahl 16:127
"Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
Az-Zumar 39:10
"And Allah loves the patient."
Al-Imran 3:146
"O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful."
Al-Imran 3:200
