Discover the honor, rights, and spiritual status that Islam grants to women through the words of Allah in the Holy Quran.
The Quran revolutionized the status of women in 7th century Arabia, granting them rights to inheritance, property ownership, education, and spiritual equality. Women are addressed directly by Allah throughout the Quran and are held to the same moral and spiritual standards as men.
An entire surah (chapter) is named after Maryam (Mary), the mother of Prophet Isa (Jesus), honoring her as one of the greatest women in human history. The Quran mentions numerous righteous women as examples for all believers, regardless of gender.
